I hope everyone is having a great First Day of Spring! I knew it was coming and this year I am so excited! Not sure why, but the longer days sure are going to be great!
Although we woke up to this...
A nice covering of snow. In typical Palouse fashion it is mostly gone now. Which is even better for me, I have 15 minute run I need to do!
Today is also Tuesday! For my homemaking series for Tuesdays, I am going to tell you about my routine. I am going to start off doing one day at a time, and it will be a little mini series called "One Week to clean!" This mini series will cover a my weekly 'routine to clean', but we will s p r e a d it out. I feel that to list out the weekly to do list will be a little overwhelming. No, it is very overwhelming!
I made me some cute simple daily to do lists a month or so a go. They are really helpful for keeping me on task, as I have what I call housekeeping ADD. I made these little charts, and they need a little tweaking but over all they are great! I modeled them after these I found on pintrest:
Monday, is going to this weeks Homemaking Tuesday's focus. For me, Monday is kitchen day. Mainly because I love to entertain on the weekend, and so it is always a disaster by Monday. I make sure that all the dishes get done. We have a dishwasher, but not all of my dishes I allow to be washed in there, also some don't fit. So there are always have some dishes to wash by hand. My lovey Husband's job is to unload the dishwasher and dish rack DAILY (he needs reminding, but he always does it! It is also his job to run the dishwasher, but that is because we have a portable dishwasher that hooks up to our kitchen sink. I have tried many times to set it up... But EVERY time I do, I flood the kitchen or don't hook it up right!)
Dishes are something that need to be done everyday. But things like mopping and washing off the cupboards are something to do about once a week. Those are the things that get done on Monday.
Kitchens are a room of the house that need to be cleaned daily. So along with doing dishes daily. Wipe your counters, the range top, and the sink. I like to do these after dinner is finished and put away. That way I know it is done and I don't need to do it before bed.
Now I have missed a few things that need to be done in the kitchen, but here is a list of what should get done. If you see something that is missing let me know!!
Monday: Kitchen Day!
Things to be done EVERY MONDAY:
Load and run dishwasher
Wash ALL remaining dishes by hand
Scrub counters, range/stove top, and sink
Clean out refrigerator and wash door
Clean Microwave and/or toaster oven
Wipe down cupboards
Sweep and mop floor
Everyday
Things to be done EVERYDAY:
Load and run Dishwasher
Wash remaining dishes by hand
wipe down the counter, range/stove top, sink
Sweep floor
Monthly (or as needed):
Deep clean oven
Deep clean refrigerator
Clean out underneath kitchen sink
It is a lot to take in, I know! It has taken me YEARS so come up with this how to keep my kitchen clean routine. It is not perfect, but we can get as close as POSSIBLE!
